About CERGE-EI
Established in Prague in the Czech Republic in 1991 after the Velvet Revolution, the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education – Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) is a joint workplace of Charles University and the Economics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences, offering U.S.-type programs and outstanding educational facilities that serve many countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
Our graduate study programs – including our Ph.D. in Economics, M.A. in Economic Research and M.A. in Applied Economics – are world-class and highly competitive. CERGE-EI has been designated a “Center of Excellence” by both USAID and the European Union. Our graduates are in high demand, serving the region and the world in international organizations, NGOs, governments, universities, and the private sector. Overall, CERGE-EI has reached almost 500,000 students through direct engagement and our multiplier effect.

“The work is incredibly important. Investing in the education of these remarkable young men and women and what they will contribute to their countries is both socially responsible and smart business.”
